COMMUNITY FUTURES PETERBOROUGH ANNOUNCES
THE TOP 8 SEMIFINALISTS FOR IGNITE 100 FUNDING COMPETITION.
Monday, April 1st, 2019 - ignite100 application intake closed March 22nd, 2019 and Community Futures Peterborough is thrilled with the success of the application process. The interest was high and more than 25 attended the information session which netted down to 15 applications. “Considering it is our first year running the ignite100 program we are excited with the applications we received and more so the quality of the submissions” says Gail Moorhouse, Executive Director for Community Futures Peterborough.
ignite100's goal is to assist in local growth and expansion for businesses that have been around for more than 2 years. “While the competition was open to all sectors, we were eagerly looking to extend our reach deeper into the manufacturing community and a large number of our submissions came from this sector,” says Peter Gaffney, Chair of Community Futures Peterborough Board of Directors.
Today Community Futures Peterborough announces the 8 semifinalist who will present at the live pitch night, May 2nd, 2019 at Fleming College. Details are available on www.ignite100.ca

Entrants to ignite100 are competing for a 3-year interest-free loan, with no payments for year one. They will also have access to up to one million dollars as a repayable loan(s) or equity position through Community Futures Peterborough partnerships.
Also, the semifinalists will have first access to the new Rural Renaissance Innovation Initiative which was announced by the federal government in late February. This is a non-repayable contribution for projects that align with Fed Dev Ontario requirements around innovation. Since ignite100 is an innovation competition Community Futures Peterborough views the applicants as already vetted to meet the innovation objective, to catapult a business on the innovation track that will produce sustainable results. Community Futures Peterborough is looking for projects that are ready for Commercialization, Research and Development, Intellectual Property/Patents, Productivity Enhancements, or a path to Export. More details on this new funding announcement will be available later in April.
During the next month the semifinalist will perfect their presentation and at the Live Pitch Night on May 2, 2019, our Power Panel of community leaders will select and announce the 3 finalists. The winner will be announced at the Community Futures annual AGM and Community BBQ on June 26th, 2019.

COMMUNITY FUTURES PETERBOROUGH ANNOUNCES NEW FUNDING COMPETITION TO SUPPORT BUSINESS EXPANSION
THURSDAY JANUARY 10, 2019 - ignite100 has officially landed in Peterborough. Community Futures Peterborough announced its new innovation challenge program today local businesses the opportunity to compete for significant funding opportunities to grow or expand their business.
“This program is about giving area businesses another avenue to gain a competitive advantage,” says Peter Gaffney, Chair of Community Futures Peterborough. “We wanted to develop something specific for our community and allow as many businesses as possible to participate in the competition.”
ignite100 was created by Community Futures Peterborough to assist in local business expansion. This is a local initiative open to all organizations within the city or county of Peterborough that have been in business for more than 2 years. It is also open to any business willing to relocate to the region. All industry sectors are encouraged to participate.
“The Greater Peterborough community has done an amazing job supporting our youth and startups, and Community Futures Peterborough is a major partner of both the Bear’s Lair and Win this Space programs,” says Gail Moorhouse, Executive Director of Community Futures Peterborough. “We believe that now is the time to focus on business expansion and provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs to catapult their business forward. ignite100 is the catalyst to do just that.”
